Theodore William Nott was born to the already aged Benjamin Nott and his considerably younger wife Helena on a blustery and cold January night in nineteen-eighty. The Nott s were particularly privileged- as old and pureblooded as a family could be and wealthy as well. The Notts were considered the equals of the Malfoys, both socially and in their blood purity, and so the Notts were highly respected in the British wizarding community.

The family lived quite pleasantly in their seaside manor until a tragedy occurred when Theodore was five years old. During an evening trip through muggle London , he and his mother were accosted by a muggle who at first only intended to mug his mother but- when she tried to pull her wand on him- he reacted badly and stabbed her. Theodore was left to watch his mother die in a grimy alleyway, her powers as a pureblooded witch useless against the brutality of a vicious muggle.

Theodore witnessed Helena’s death, thereby allowing him to see thestrals. Though he misses his mother his memories of her began to fade years ago and he never speaks of her. However, her death only served to sharpen his father’s anti-muggle views, ideals which he instilled into his young son.

On September 1st 1991, Theodore entered Hogwarts and was unsurprisingly sorted into Slytherin. He was an excellent student and well liked by his peers, though he did not join any of their cliques. In 1996 Nott’s father was identified as Death Eater and sent to Azkaban. When the war broke out in the summer of 1997 Nott joined his father- newly escaped from the wizarding prison- in Death Eater activities and did his best to serve the Dark Lord. Though he never took the Dark Mark, he committed many an act that was pleasing and helpful to his evil master. When Voldemort was defeated two years later, Nott’s father took the blame for all that his son had done. Benjamin even went so far as to claim he’d imperiused Theodore, just to clear his son’s name. Benjamin was charged and is now once again an inmate of Azkaban. Rather than settle down in Britain Theodore chose to travel and has finally, after two years, decided to return to Wizarding London.
